Hello, and thanks for stopping by! I’m an experienced entrepreneur, author, designer and DIY expert. What does all that mean exactly? Well, I like a lot of things, I stay busy, and I am passionate about making (making pretty much anything I can get my hands on). From an early age you could invariably find me making something out of nothing. My hands were always moving and fiddling, trying to figure out how things worked and how I could get them to work a little better.

After graduating with a degree in business, a love of design sent me packing from my home state of North Carolina to New York City. I started my career as a sought after jewelry designer working with a wide range of brands including Givenchy, Kate Spade, Alexis Bittar, and Marc Jacobs. My design work has been featured on the pages of almost every major fashion publication including Martha Stewart Living, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and InStyle.

In 2011 I founded For the Makers, a leader in DIY craft design, which channeled my years of designing for the fashion industry to elevate the perception of handcrafted goods. I've designed and sold branded-products at Anthropologie and West Elm. My first book, Make a Statement: 25 Handcrafted Jewelry and Accessory Projects was published by Chronicle Books 2015. I was chosen as one of 10 Pinterest Ambassadors in the United States. I’ve created and produced content for Domino, Martha Stewart, Elle, Design Sponge, Chronicle Books, and Pinterest. For the past two years I’ve been hard at work on my second book, A Well-Crafted Home, launching Holiday 2017, published by Penguin Random House/Potter Craft.

With an undying passion for handmade goods and the art of purposeful design I was inspired to take that mission further, and recently turned my focus to housewares and textile manufacturing. A seasoned trend forecaster and mood board savant, my favorite thing to do is mix current trends and timeless design. When I’m not in the shop or behind the lens, you can find me seeking out the perfect materials or the perfect cup of coffee (and if I'm not doing that you can find me at ANY thrift store around). I currently live in North Carolina with my husband Collin and our sweet daughter Davie.
