About

Hello, and thanks for stopping by! I’m an experienced entrepreneur, author, designer, and DIY expert. I like to be involved in a lot of things at once and I am passionate about making (making pretty much anything I can get my hands on). From an early age you could invariably find me making something out of nothing. My hands were always moving and fiddling, trying to figure out how things worked and how I could get them to work a little better.

After graduating with a degree in business, a love of design sent me packing from my home state of North Carolina to New York City. I started my career as a sought after jewelry designer working with a wide range of brands including Givenchy, Kate Spade, Alexis Bittar, and Marc Jacobs. My design work has been featured on the pages of almost every major fashion publication including Martha Stewart Living, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and InStyle. I've also designed and sold branded-products at Anthropologie and West Elm.

In 2011 I founded For the Makers, a leader in DIY craft design, which channeled my years of designing for the fashion industry to elevate the perception of handcrafted goods. My first book, Make a Statement: 25 Handcrafted Jewelry and Accessory Projects was released in 2015 (published by Chronicle Books). My second book, A Well-Crafted Home, Inspiration and 60 Projects for Personalizing Your Space was published in 2017 by Penguin Random House/Clarkson Potter. I was fortunate to be chosen as one of 10 Pinterest Ambassadors in the United States! I’ve created and produced editorial content for Domino, Martha Stewart, Elle, Design Sponge, Chronicle Books, Pinterest, and many more…

With an undying passion for handmade goods and the art of purposeful design I was inspired to take my DIY mission further, and recently turned my focus to housewares and textile design. A seasoned trend forecaster and mood board savant, my favorite thing to do is mix current trends and timeless design. When I’m not in the shop or behind a lens, you can find me seeking out the perfect materials or the perfect cup of coffee (and if I'm not doing that you can find me at ANY thrift store around). I currently live in North Carolina with my husband Collin and our three kiddos.
